Joint book launch for Public Data Cultures + Auto-correct + Silicon Empires
Commissioned by Jonathan W. Y. Gray of the Centre for Digital Culture, I had the pleasure of supporting and documenting this evening alongside Mykola, Liliana, Thais & Sasha.
Role: hybrid audience engagement design, photography
How are AI technologies shaping distributions of wealth and power?
What can we learn from their fantasies and failures?
How might we nurture alternative arrangements and other futures?
At this joint book launch for Jonathan W. Y. Gray’s Public Data Cultures, Maya Ganesh’s Auto-Correct and Nick Srnicek’s Silicon Empires, authors of these titles discussed the above questions with respondents Noortje Marres and Joanna Zylinska, as well as the audience.
Presentations from authors, insights from respondents, and discussions with the evening’s audience on critical engagement with digital culture and infrastructures have offered us hope in these challenging times.
